Last House on the Left

One of my favorite movies and I'm sure everyone here has seen it. If not, go do that now. The original, not the remake. Just to make that clear.

It starts out with a group of people who basically torture and end up killing two young girls. During that part of the movie people are usually sickened by what they see, but interestingly near the end of the movie when the parents act similar to the group who killed their daughter, people tend to cheer them on. Because seeing the horrible things in the beginning, they see the later actions as justified, but are they? I don't think so. I think the movie shows that anyone under the right circumstances can act like the people we despise. The parents are no better than the ones who killed their daughter, and we the viewers are no better than the parents for enjoying their revenge.

That was one of the main problems I had with the remake. In the original, their actions are actually believable, but in the remake the daughter doesn't die. I find it hard to believe that anyone would snap like that simply because their daughter is raped. Well shot too. In their case it would be far more believable if they simply left as quickly as possible in order to get their daughter medical attention. But then again, in the remake they don't snap like the parents in the original. They don't plan things out carefully. It happens suddenly when they're fearful for their lives. After killing one, only then do they decide to kill the others.

Think you'll be raptured and have pets that will be left behind?

Pretty funny read.

I just learned about breatharians today. Basically they live off air and don't drink or eat. I'm sure the ones who are still alive longer than a month are cheating... The one on the site however does advise eating burgers from McDonald's and drinking diet coke... preferably in plastic bottles. If you have a few minutes to waste you can read the extremely long answer that could have easily been shortened to a couple sentences.

Oh and if you go to the home page, he offers a workshop for 1 million dollars if anyone is interested.

This has always amazed me, although I've always hoped that when people are arguing and don't listen to facts it's not because they refuse to pay attention to them, but rather want to keep the argument going for entertainment. Or maybe it's because it's so easy to find "facts" supporting almost any claim so it's easy to dismiss something you don't already agree with.
